Porcelain Fairy Information ![]() Missy’s porcelain fairies have been featured in Doll Reader Magazine and come in a variety of poses that include sleeping, flying, yawning, or infant fairies. These elegant and refined creatures are delicately handcrafted and each fairy is a one-of-a-kind work of art. Two pieces are never alike so each porcelain fairy pictured on the site is the one you’ll receive if purchased. She gets many requests to “recreate” something that’s been sold, unfortunately, because of the one-of-a-kind handcrafted nature of these fairies this isn’t possible. Missy’s use of vintage and heirloom materials has become her trademark. She uses a variety of materials that include: satin, lace, velvet, gauze, marabou, silk, vintage paper flowers, vintage buttons and coins, vintage costume jewelry, multi-colored crystals, and real glass glitter. Her porcelain fairies are predominately housed in rich handcrafted accoutrements that include jeweled beds with matching accented pillows and fringed dust ruffles, jeweled shells, vintage brass cups, elaborate jeweled fairy nests, and antique silver spoons to name just a few. Her flying porcelain fairies come with a gold stand that’s covered with a variety of natural mosses, seeds, and dried flowers. Each porcelain fairy ranges in size from miniatures (3”) to full size (approximately 7” tall). Porcelain is delicate and breakable; they’re better suited for little girls 10 years old and up. They can be dusted with a soft brush or a quick blast of condensed computer keyboard air. Many people choose to cover their porcelain fairies with a glass dome. Finally, Missy’s porcelain fairies are available exclusively through her website and should be considered highly collectable; they are not available at the Sawdust Festival. Many have been featured in magazines, newspapers, and television. She also uses images of these designer fairies in her greeting card line. | |||||||||||||||
